SpringboardNYC's Cues from Tony Nominees 2010
Part of the American Theatre Wing's SpringboardNYC program each year is a series of mentor conversations with working artists in the field; past participants have included Allison Janney, Neil Patrick Harris, Anika Noni Rose, Paul Rudd, Cynthia Nixon and 2010 Lifetime Achievement Tony winner Marian Seldes. While only 36 select students have the opportunity to hear from these artists first-hand each season at SpringboardNYC, The Wing used the opportunity of the yearly Tony Press Availability -- held just 24 hours after Tony nominations are announced -- to solicit some key thoughts from newly minted nominees on their lives and careers. Was there a teacher or mentor who played a key role in their artistic development? What was their first professional theatre job and what did they learn from it? Is there something they know now that they wish they'd known when they were first starting out?
As part of the run up to the 2010 Tony Awards we posted 67 videos with "cues" from more than 30 of the 2010 Tony Award nominees. Watch some of the "cues" below, and if you're still in college and contemplating a career in the theatre, be sure to check out the other pages in this section about whether SpringboardNYC would be right for you.
