National Theatre Company Grant Application Process
To begin the application process, you must submit your "Intent to Apply" form. Once you have submitted this form you will receive further instructions on how to finish your application including instructions regarding additional required materials.
If you have already completed the Intent to Apply, and either did not receive your confirmation email or misplaced your instructions to complete the application, please email us at theatrecompanygrants@americantheatrewing.org.
Your Intent to Apply must be received by June 13, 2012.
Following your Intent to Apply, the following information must be submitted, on ATW Standard Forms and must be postmarked by June 20, 2012, or hand delivered to the ATW offices by 5:00pm on June 20th.
- The Application Narrative Form, which includes an opportunity to provide a description of the work and mission of the company (approximately 550 words), discuss the potential impact of the grant (approximately 275 words), describe significant achievements (approximately 475 words), developmental initiatives (approximately 150 words), and education/outreach initiatives
(approximately 150 words). Word count is approximate, as the space on the form determines overall length. We suggest you present the information as clearly as possible given the limitations, utilizing negative space and bullet points in your narrative.
- Company Board of Directors Form, which is a listing of the company's board of directors/trustees (no auxiliary or advisory boards).
- Production History Form, which is a list of the company's production history (title, author and director only) for the five (5) most recent seasons including dates, and the current/upcoming season number of performances given, and venue for each (please do not include benefit performances, workshops, or readings series).
We suggest you complete and save the production history form, and fill out one for each season, creating a discrete page for each year of your production history.
Additionally you must provide:
- A copy of the most recently completed financial audit (or prior year's financial statement for any organization whose operating budget is below $500,000)
- A copy of the company's most recent IRS Form 990
Finally, you may include:
- Two (2) different subscription brochures (or similar marketing piece) reflecting the most recent or upcoming seasons.
- Two (2) different programs or Playbills from productions in two different seasons.
- A selection of up to five (5) reviews or feature articles about the company's work none of which is more than five (5) years old.
